"Microfair Madness"
By Gareth Pitchford
-------------------

It was Friday the 13th of September, and you were woken up by the sound of hurricane force winds devastating your garden outside.
"What typical English weather!" you said, "Anyone would think it was Summer." You climbed out of bed and rescued the cat from the flood that was threatening to engulf the lower parts of your house. "Nothing could possibly go wrong today!"

For today was the day that you were travelling south to visit the 'Personal Computer Whirled Show - The 100th Microfair' to deliver your brand new adventure game to your publisher who had a stall there.

Travel south you did, until you found yourself standing outside 'Sire Clive's Exhibition Hall' - the venue of this years Microfair. Yet all your adventuring experience hadn't prepared you for the task that lay ahead. Halflings, Popstars, Goons, and Timelords - you'll meet them all in this crazy computer show. That's providing you can get in - Guess which prat forgot the ticket?

The 2019 Version
----------------

Microfair Madness started lifed as a text adventure for the ZX Spectrum, released by Delbert the Hamster Software in 1991. In 1992, the Adventure Workshop produced a conversion of the game for the Amstrad CPC and PCW range of computers, running under CP/M.

The Guild/Adventure Workshop version of the game is sadly not archived. This new 2019 has been built using the Spectrum 48K version of the adventure. Some text (originally cut due to memory limitations) has been restored, the parser has been tweaked in places, various bug fixes and QoL issues have been sorted, and some extra clues have been added.

Being based on the 48K version of the game, the CP/M version doesn't include the extended text, puzzles, locations and extra mini-games from the Spectrum 128K version. However, the second (side of the) disk includes some bonus content... the expanded (full length adventure) version of The Quest for the Holy Snail mini-game, the 128K exclusive The Great Caravan Caper and the small, promotional half-sequel Personal Computer Whirled!
